PODCASTING WORKSHOPS FOR THE LATINX COMMUNITY

Nuestras Voces es un taller de podcast gratis para principiantes, dirigido especialmente a la comunidad latina de Asheville y Western North Carolina. Se realizará el 1 y 2 de octubre, de 2 a 4 PM. Quienes atiendan a los tres encuentros finalizarán el taller con una pequeña pieza de audio o el inicio de un podcast. Todo lo que necesitas es un teléfono inteligente y papel y lapicera.

Nuestras Voces is a free, Latinx community-based audio journalism and podcasting workshop series on October 1st and 2nd from 2-4 PM.  If you attend all sessions, you'll complete a short audio piece or the beginning of a podcast. You can also attend a single session to learn about podcast production and journalism skills.  All you need to bring is your cell phone and a pen and paper.  

Los periodistas locales Patricia Serrano y David Seth Miller trabajarán con los participantes durantes 3 encuentros los conceptos básicos de podcast y la importancia de contar con más voces latinas en este formato:

• Diversidad en los medios: ¿Por qué tu voz es importante?
• Podcast narrativo o storytelling: ¿Cómo contar una buena historia?
• Periodismo de audio / ¿Qué es un podcast? 
• La pre producción: Equipamiento, Personajes, Lugares
• El arte de la entrevista. 
• Guión y edición: ¿Cómo cuento la historia?
• Post producción: Grabación del guión, diseño de sonido.
• Publicación y distribución. 

Asheville journalists and producers Patricia Serrano and David Seth Miller will work with participants in a bilingual (English / Español) format on the following skills and topics:  

• Diversity in media: Why we need your voice 
• Thinking in narrative: What makes a good (audio) story  
• Audio storytelling/podcasting formats and styles
• Pre production: Setting up interviews, locations, equipment
• The art of interviewing
• Writing and editing your scripts
• Post-production: Recording narration and sound design
• Publication, distribution, collaboration
